What is deep tissue massage?
A deep tissue massage targets chronic tension in the muscles that are below the body’s surface. Massage technique used is deep slow strokes with direct pressure that go across the muscle grain. Deep tissue massage breaks down any tension spots or knots within the muscle tissue, fibers, tendons and ligaments, by breaking thus down it helps to relieve pain and improve circulation. A sports or deep tissue massage should not be mistaken for a therapeutic or spa massage.
What to prepare for the massage
- Do not eat a large meal before a massage
- Neglect personal hygiene
- A list of injures or medical history that we need to know about before hand
- Do not drink excess coffee or alcohl before the massage
- Please drink plenty of water before and after your massage
- Wear appropriate clothing
- Complete the medical questionnaire before your massage — massage will not take place if questionnaire and medical screening has not been completed.
