About
ABOUT US
Welcome to Battu Brisé, where passion seamlessly meets movement. Our studio is committed to providing a welcoming environment for dancers of all skill levels to explore, learn, and grow. Offering a diverse range of classes from ballet to pilates and aerobics, we are guided by experienced instructors dedicated to helping you achieve your dance aspirations.
At Battu Brisé Dance Studio, we pride ourselves on delivering quality, age-appropriate training across all our classes. Our curriculum combines open work with syllabus work, with progression meticulously assessed by external examiners and adjudicators. This ensures that our students receive objective evaluations and the highest standards of training.
We actively participate in local festivals and dance competitions, providing our dancers with invaluable stage experience and performance opportunities. We firmly believe that correct training and proper technique cannot be achieved overnight or through online videos. It requires time, dedication, and perseverance. To this end, we foster a professional relationship with both students and their parents, supporting our pupils throughout their dance journeys.
Battu Brisé is proud to be accredited and affiliated with the Royal Academy of Dance, Association of International Dance Teachers. The studio is led by Haleigh van Rooyen, a registered teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance & Association of International Dance Teachers, who is also listed on their teacher’s register in South Africa.
“Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion.” – Martha Graham

Tasmy Cox
Teaching: Saturday classes: Ballet & Assistant Nursery School Ballet Teacher
Ballet has been a lifelong passion and the driving force behind my journey as a teacher. With over 12 years of intermittent experience in ballet, tap, and contemporary dance, I have developed a strong foundation in movement and technique that I love sharing with others.
I bring 15 years of experience working with children to my role as a ballet instructor, including 2 years of teaching pre-primary school. These experiences have shaped my ability to connect with young learners and foster their creativity and confidence.
Currently, I am completing a Bachelor’s degree in Education for the Intermediate Phase, with a focus on teaching children with learning difficulties. Once I have completed my studies, I will pursue a Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Certification in Dance Teaching for Ballet to deepen my expertise and share my love of ballet with aspiring dancers.
My teaching philosophy revolves around creating a nurturing and inspiring environment where children can explore the beauty of dance, develop discipline, and build their self-esteem.
